YAIR's Speak Up, Speak Out podcast series is intended to share the personal stories of immigrant and refugee youth in Portland as a way to foster cross-cultural connections and empathetic exchange. Through our podcast, we hope to change some common misconceptions of the IR (immigrant/refugee) community, as well as raise the voices and build trust among disparate communities to showcase the power for storytelling.
The main reason we at YAIR decided to create a podcast series is because we believe empathetic exchange and discussion is more informative and educational than a lecture. Stories are deeply personal to someone's experience and is more valuable than a generalized overview of the traditional "IR experience".
Stay tuned for our very first episode of our podcast series coming out soon!
